In Miami, PARAISO Moves Swim Week Runways to June

For the first time in almost two decades swim week runways will have new dates due to market shifts.

For the first time in almost two decades swim week runways in Miami will present designer collections to the media one month earlier, June 8 - 11, 2023. The swimwear industry date change is a direct response to a request for a market shift by designers, buyers and creators that use the events to promote seasonal, branded content throughout the entirety of the international swimwear industry season.

“While the last 20 years have shaped Miami as a hub for the swimwear industry, we must keep the platform future-proofed and adapt with the way brands do business, today. The pandemic undoubtedly impacted the entire fashion industry, but swimwear especially boomed with the rise of online shopping. Today, fashion shows are produced to show the consumer current brand offerings and excite them for the upcoming collections. While most of the designers show previews, many today, mix in see-now-buy-now pieces. We want brands to reach consumers as early as possible through the vehicles we offer: experiential, social media, press and retail partnerships'', says Natalija Dedic Stojanovic, the Founder of PARAISO Miami Beach.

With international roster of trade shows happening throughout June and July, it only makes sense that previews of Resort and Swim collections would be shown sooner - and there’s no bigger gathering of the industry than Miami’s swim week.

One area that has certainly been trailblazed by the swim runway shows in Miami is its ability to take the tiny articles of apparel and innovate design, celebrate inclusivity and highlight diversity.

“While swimwear is a challenging category to be completely sustainable, every season we see more brands show up with new technologies, fabrics and design ideas that truly embrace sustainability to their cores.” says Stojanovic.

Paraiso Miami Beach partner brand, ONEONE owns and operates their factories in Colombia - making each order as it’s processed by both retailers and its consumers. “There are several brands that we have seen improve their sustainable efforts in the last few years and it’s such an integral mission of Paraiso to promote the possibility of adapting to these technologies and getting more brands in the industry, on board, " continues Stojanovic.

Paraiso founded the Upcycle Project in 2019, a design competition where a selected group of students are paired with design mentors, who in the past have included Becca McCharen-Tran of Chromat, along with the designers of Bondi Born, L Space, Gigi C, Beach Riot, and Vitamin A. The new season of the project is already in works. Designer and educational partners will be announced this spring.

The shiny social media influencers, fashion editors and buyers who all flock to Miami to admire and showcase their own notoriously tiny, fashion week looks will now mark their calendars one month earlier than they are used to.

The famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit event is also following the change of dates, continuing their partnership with Paraiso Miami Beach and getting ready to present their exciting and energy packed swim week runway show at the W South Beach on Saturday, June 10.

SI Tickets by Sports Illustrated will serve as the Official Ticketing Partner for all PARAISO swim week experiences. On-sale dates for passes to all events will be announced later this month on www.sitickets.com

New and veteran brands showing at PARAISO Miami Beach are Acacia, Beach Bunny, Luli Fama, Azulu, Maaji, One One, Sinesia Karol, SHAN, and several others that will be announced as the June dates round. The elevated and luxurious Paraiso Miami Beach tent will be built on the oceanside of Collins Park, right on Miami Beach. PARAISO will also host various pop ups and auxiliary experiences across multiple venues including W South Beach, Soho Beach House, and the Miami Design District.

“We are thrilled to bring new partnerships to light and open doors even further to consumers turning the platform into a true Summer fashion festival for everyone to enjoy.” says Stojanovic.
