We interviewed the Chief Merchant Kristen Sosa at Olivela, the leading woman behind the selection of luxury merchandise that empowers customers to shop for a cause. Olivela will be joining Paraiso this year by activating a pop-up shop with the best of resort, accessories, footwear, fragrance and beauty. Residents and visitors of Miami Beach are welcome to shop at the Paraiso Bungalow, July 11-14, Oceanside, 2111 Miami Beach Drive (between 21st & 22nd Street) in Collins Park, Miami Beach.

P: What resortwear pieces are you not going to be able to live without this summer and tell us why we need them!

O: I love this piece from Zimmerman. The floral is so fresh. And this chic one-piece wrap style doubles as a gorgeous bodysuit with denim and heels for aprés beach. I am also obsessed with Lapima sunglasses, which are designed and handmade by artisans in Sao Paolo. I love the infusion of color and elegant styles. I plan to collect a few this summer.

P: With sustainability and body positivity being at the forefront of resort wear, Olivela is helping to fight a different social cause, tell us about the social cause that customers will support when purchasing something from Olivela.

O: Giving back is a huge part of Olivela’s DNA. We are the only luxury fashion and beauty retail concept where 20% of proceeds supports causes you care about. During our time at Paraiso, we knew we wanted to support the local Miami community, which is why we’re proud to be partnering with Perez Art Museum Miami. Twenty percent of every purchase made in our pop up will go directly to this amazing charity making a positive impact in Miami-Dade county. How cool is that?

P: Paraiso Miami Beach is right around the corner, can you give us a sneak peek of what we can look forward to seeing for Olivela collaboration with Paraiso? What trends and special pieces are highlighted within this collaboration?

In the spirit of Miami, we will feature niche brands in swim and resort wear as well as perfect breezy dresses in florals, stripes, tie-dye, and tropicals in every happy color you can imagine. Some of our favorite items are the really fun, unique statement handbags from Poolside, Serpui, Adriana Castro and Mercedes Salazar, and we have the most incredible Christian Dior shoes—straight off the runway.

P: The world of wellness is taking us by storm and we are loving Olivela’s approach. What does wellness mean for Olivela fans and what beauty trends should be keeping an eye out for?

Taking care of yourself inside and out is the most important way to feel strong and beautiful. Organic and clean wellness products, such as The Super Elixir from WelleCo, beauty powders from The Beauty Chef, and Moon Juice supplements are just a few of our best sellers. We also really believe in the CBD products from Saint Jane, Vintner’s Daughter serum with active botanicals, and exfoliators from Goop.
